About Well Water by County
Last reviewed:
People with private wells keep asking the same thing: where can I actually get my water tested? Most lab finders stop at the state level. We go county by county.
What every county page includes
- Certified labs that serve the county, and whether we could confirm they accept mail-in samples.
- Free or subsidized testing programs from county, state or extension agencies.
- Contaminants of concern, taken from published state, university or USGS data.
- Typical costs, copied from published price lists.
- How to collect a sample, based on the lab's own instructions.
- A Last verified date and a link to the source for every fact.
Our research rules
- Every fact comes from a source we actually opened, and we link to it.
- We never guess at labs, phone numbers, prices or programs. When we couldn't verify something, the page says so under "What we couldn't verify".
- Prices and programs change. Always confirm with the lab or agency before you sample.
Not medical or legal advice
This site is general information. It can't tell you whether your water is safe. Only a certified lab test of your own well can do that. For health questions, contact your state or county health department or your doctor.
